A butterfly changes life stages, which they literally call metamorphosis. It all begins with a female butterfly who lays her minuscule eggs on a leaf from the plant. The eggs hatch into caterpillars, which are baby butterflies. The caterpillars are feasting — feeding on all the surrounding foliage to grow fungal stronger. As they grow, they molts of skin several times and leave behind its old exoskeleton — which appears ghostly. Eventually, the caterpillar undergoes a unique transformation known as the pupa stage and wraps itself in a protective covering. This is a crucial stage because the caterpillar is turning into a butterfly within the cocoon. After a while, the pupa splits and a lovely fully-formed butterfly pops out. And following all of this change is such a beautiful representation of metamorphosis and fresh starts in nature.
